A range of EMC filter modules have been developed for use on board printed circuit boards to reduce the need for external components.
TDK Corporation has introduced the iDQ series of 10A, 48Vdc nominal EMC filter modules. With high on-board capacitance, the filters are ideal for use with DC-DC converters, minimising the need for external components and thus saving on printed circuit board area.
Rated for a maximum voltage of 75Vdc, the iDQ has a differential mode attenuation of 63dB at 300 kHz measured with a 50 Ohm source and load impedance. The compact filter measures just 50mm in length, 15mm in width, with a height of 10.8mm. The iDQ will operate without forced air cooling in ambient temperatures of -40 to +85C.
Utilising TDK component technology, system level compliance to FCC and CISPR is made easier. A pin is provided for the addition of extra capacitance to further enhance common mode performance. The iDQ has 1500Vdc isolation from ground; enabling operation in systems where the ground is connected to either the positive or negative input.
