Extreme environmental testing expansion in Colorado

Aerospace and Defence industry environmental testing specialist expands its test facilities with new thermal vacuum chamber in Denver.

Element Materials Technology is continuing to demonstrate its role as a provider of Aerospace and Defence product qualification testing (PQT) services with the expansion of its environmental testing capabilities at its Denver, Colorado location. Its investment in a new thermal vacuum chamber complements existing thermal testing and bake out capabilities, underlining Element’s ability to deliver technical expertise and operational performance which is critical to these sectors.

The new capability allows clients to test to extreme temperatures and pressures, from cryogenic temperatures to 150C and pressures of up to 1 X 10-7 Torr. This includes both product qualification testing (PQT) of components and a range of materials testing (MT) services, including sterilisation/decontamination for space applications.

Rick Sluiters, Element’s Executive Vice President, Aerospace, comments: “There is significant demand within the local Aerospace market for more extreme testing capabilities. Following this investment, we now have a fully comprehensive set of capabilities in environmental testing demonstrating our commitment to the Aerospace and Defence supply chain. Element’s technical expertise is such that very few organisations are able to provide this type of service, with the requisite level of quality control and project management demanded in the sector.”

Element’s Pacific Northwest locations provide a full range of environmental testing capabilities to RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD 810 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards, as well as holding a number of Aerospace Prime and supply chain approvals.
